JAMB Releases 2026 Cut-Off Marks as Top Universities Set High Admission Benchmarks
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has officially announced the minimum UTME cut-off marks for the 2026 admission season, giving millions of candidates across Nigeria a clearer picture of what to expect.
The announcement was made during the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions, held in Abuja on Monday. The meeting brought together vice chancellors, rectors, provosts, and other education stakeholders to discuss admission guidelines for the new academic session.
According to details presented to journalists, institutions across the country submitted their approved minimum scores for admission consideration.Among all the universities listed, Pan-Atlantic University recorded the highest general cut-off mark, fixing its minimum score at 220.
Several leading universities, including Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Benin, University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, University of Nigeria, and Covenant University, fixed their minimum cut-off mark at 200.
In Lagos State, Lagos State University and Lagos State University of Science and Technology adopted 195 as their minimum benchmark. Meanwhile, Lagos State University of Education approved a cut-off mark of 185.
JAMB explained that the announced figures are only the minimum requirements for admission consideration. The board noted that universities still have the authority to raise cut-off marks for highly competitive courses.
Courses such as Medicine, Law, Pharmacy, and Engineering are expected to attract higher admission requirements in many institutions due to intense competition and limited admission spaces.
The latest announcement is expected to guide candidates as they prepare for the admission process, while institutions continue screening and selection activities for the 2026 academic session.
